Invisalign is a comfortable and inconspicuous alternative to braces that is used to solve minor orthodontic problems. These clear plastic trays are very similar to a retainer. You wear them most of the day, removing them only to eat, brush, and floss. Invisalign can correct the positioning of your teeth dramatically to give you the straight smile you have always dreamed of.

Invisalign Process

Step 1: Make the Call

Visit our dental office in Schaumburg or call (847) 957-3537 to schedule an appointment and let us know you are interested in Invisalign.

Step 2: Initial Consultation

During your appointment, Dr. Patel will conduct an Invisalign consultation. We do these consultations to make sure you understand the process, timeline, cost and the maintenance that comes with Invisalign.

SDS Difference: If you are unsure of whether you want to go forward with the procedure, we can send Invisalign a picture of your current smile. They will then return a digitally enhanced image of what your smile would look like after using Invisalign, allowing you to make a more informed decision.

Step 3: Oral Examination

We then examine your mouth, looking for signs of infection that may interfere with the Invisalign. If we find signs of infection, we will suggest a remedy and schedule a follow-up appointment to continue the procedure when you are healed.

If we do not find any sign of infection, we will give you an estimated treatment completion date. The Invisalign process typically takes between 6 and 24 months depending on your case.

Step 4: Dental Impressions

After you agree to the procedure, we scan your teeth with a 3D digital camera and send those images to the Invisalign headquarters to be made into your trays.

SDS Difference: Typically, Invisalign requires patients to complete several uncomfortable teeth compressions. With our advanced technology, we are able to take pictures of your teeth without causing you any discomfort. This digital solution also cuts down on the delivery time by up to 4 weeks.

Step 5: Invisalign Lesson

It typically takes between 4 and 6 weeks to receive the Invisalign trays. Once we receive them, we will call you in for another appointment where we will teach you how to insert the trays and how to care for them, etc. Each tray should be worn for 2 weeks. We will give you 3-4 trays to take home with you and switch out every two weeks.

Step 6: Check-in and Trade-in

You’ll need to return to the SDS office every 6- 8 weeks so we can check your progress and give you more trays. This way we can ensure that the procedure is progressing correctly and we can identify any issues before it causes a problem with your progress.

Step 7: Smile!

Once you’ve completed all of your trays, go enjoy your new smile! You’ve earned those pearly whites, so go show them off to the world.
