Dr. Patel opened Schaumburg Dental Studio in 2004, seven years after completing his dental degree at the University of Illinois. Although he initially pursued a PhD in Engineering, Dr. Patel was discouraged by the isolation of pure research, and found joy in the hands-on, social, and charitable work of dentistry. In his practice at SDS, Dr. Patel combines a strong background in Material Science, love for people and his community, as well as an initiative for positive action.
Dr. Patel’s commitment to patient care is manifest in his use of the latest dental technologies, and the cultivation of an educated and caring staff. In addition to receiving his Orthodontic Certification in 2009, Dr. Patel has also done extensive research on TMJ and sleep apnea oral appliances. He holds his assistants and staff to the same standards, personally providing training in services and procedures that encourage them to take ownership over their work and grow as professionals. This also allows him to devote his attention to greater dental and business challenges while maintaining a higher standard of care.
For Dr. Patel, SDS is ultimately a gesture of goodwill towards his community and the world. Since immigrating to the US in 1976, Dr. Patel has been extremely grateful for the opportunities he has received in this country, and appreciates the diversity of experiences found in the Schaumburg community. He has now lived in the Western suburbs of Chicago for most of his life. Through the quality of his dental practice and charitable activity, Dr. Patel hopes to be remembered for his selfless, positive impact on society.
Dr. Neumann joined Schaumburg Dental Studio in July 2017. Originally, from Akron, Ohio he completed his undergraduate degree at The Ohio State University receiving a B.S. in Business Administration with Life Sciences minor. Dr. Neumann decided later in his collegiate career that he was best suited to work with people, science, and to help those in need. After this decision, he began his career in dentistry and received his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from Case Western Reserve University. Upon graduation, Dr. Neumann chose to further his dental skills and completed a hospital-based general practice residency at Summa Hospital Systems in his hometown of Akron. During his time at the hospital, Dr. Neumann was able to work with dental specialists and was lucky to have had hands on experience working side by side with cardiologists, plastic surgeons, and more. Dr. Neumann eventually made the move to downtown Chicago to be close to his wife’s family. He and his wife live in Downtown Chicago with their dog Scarlett. They love to spend time on the weekends exploring all the great experiences around the city (especially trying all the delicious food!). Dr. Neumann is a self-proclaimed sports enthusiast and loves to watch all of his Cleveland sports teams (even the Browns) and especially his Ohio State Buckeyes.
Dr. Merchant completed his undergraduate degree at Benedictine University in Lisle, Illinois receiving a B.S. in Health Sciences with a minor in Psychology. He moved to Kirksville, Missouri to begin his journey of becoming a dentist at Missouri School of Dentistry and Oral Health (MOSDOH) at A. T. Still University. After completing his first two years of dental school in Kirksville, he then moved to St. Louis, Missouri to complete his two years of clinical rotations. Dr. Merchant valued the mission of MOSDOH, which was to serve and help those in need. He was provided opportunities to put that mission into practice while treating patients as a student in St. Louis. He gained experience and the abilities to treat different patient populations during dental school.
Dr. Merchant was brought up in Mumbai, India and moved to the Chicagoland area at the age of 10. Dr. Merchant is extremely appreciative of the opportunities America has provided him and his family. For this reason, giving back to the community and serving the underserved is very important to him. For eight years, Dr. Merchant coached 7th, 8th and 9th grade basketball teams as his way of giving back. Now, he hopes to give back through the practice of dentistry. He tries to implement his coaching experiences in his career by educating his patients and working as a team with his coworkers to provide the best care possible.
Furthermore, Dr. Merchant and his wife enjoy outdoor activities, such as biking, hiking, and playing/watching sports. They also enjoy travelling and learning about different cultures. They especially love trying and learning how to cook new ethnic dishes!
Since I came here in 2013 I got all of my cavities redone and I have not had any kind of cavity expansion or new cavities, and that's never happened to me before. So I think that that has a lot to do with Dr. Patel's techniques, and what he does in the office when I come visit him. I've had people say wow your teeth are great, and then not realize there's plastic over them when we're talking. With Invisalign I can take them off, eat whatever I want, drink whatever I want, and it's really just the best option overall I think.See More Reviews
