First things first, what exactly is Same-Day Dentistry? Same-day dentistry (SDD) refers to the practice of performing procedures that typically require 2-3 office visits in only one appointment. This includes crowns, root canals, restorative procedures, and all dental emergencies (broken tooth, tooth pain, etc.). But what does that mean for you as a patient? We’ll tell you.
Don’t worry, everyone; we understand no one likes to visit the dentist more often than they need to. (We’re not offended) Same-day dentistry means that what used to be a 2-3 visit procedure can now be completed in just one session. What’s better than that?
No one likes having his or her mouth numbed, especially when it involves an injection. With Same-Day Dentistry, you can avoid additional injections involved with multiple appointments by completing the procedure in one visit.
For procedures like inlays, onlays, crowns, and veneers, the average dentist will require the patient to undergo an uncomfortable teeth impression. (You may remember it better as that uncomfortable tray full of goop that is too big for your mouth.) With new technology named Sirona Connect, we are able to take a digital image of your teeth. These images take only moments, are more accurate and significantly less uncomfortable than the traditional impressions.
Typically, when you receive a dental procedure like porcelain crowns, your dentist will take an impression and send them off to a lab for fabrication. What this means for you is you will be required to wear a temporary crown while waiting up to three weeks for your custom crown to arrive. These temporary fixtures are typically very uncomfortable and may cause irritation to the gums and surrounding teeth. With Same-Day Dentistry, the need for temporary teeth is eliminated altogether. You’ll be able to leave the office with a bright, new, shiny smile.
Thanks to our CEREC and Sirona technologies, we can provide our patients with faster, more accurate and more comfortable dentistry. They’ll fit so well you’ll forget they aren’t your original teeth!
Because the majority of dental offices need to outsource the fabrication of veneers, inlays/onlays, and crowns, the procedure typically can take up to three weeks. Now, if you get to the office and the teeth don’t fit correctly in your mouth or are the incorrect colour, they have to be sent back, meaning you’ll have to wait another 2-3 weeks to get your new teeth. With Same-Day Dentistry, we can make changes during your appointment, meaning you leave our dental office with a comfortable, dazzling smile.
